Early Warning Scoring (EWS) systems provide a commonly understood way to recognise the degree of deterioration (or improvement) in a patient’s status.
The Early Warning Score is based on the collection of a combination of vital signs. It then uses this data and alerts to the onset of deterioration fast.
The Patient Status Engine uses wireless body-worn sensors to automatically collect and analyse vital signs used for Early Warning Scores signs including heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, blood pressure and body temperature. The system uses this data to provides an accurate early warning score which is visible at the nurse station or on any authorised connected device such as a smart phone or tablet carried by nursing or clinical staff.
If normal thresholds are exceeded, the Patient Status Engine sends out an alert which enables a rapid response to emergencies, even if the patient was recovering at home.
These early warning score thresholds can be customisable for each patient which means clinical teams can see those more subtle and slower changes in a patient’s condition and, detect deterioration faster which will help simplify daily worklife, reduce costs and enhance workflow.
